Attracting Targeted Traffic
I was recently in Dallas, Texas for a seminar on internet marketing. There were several speakers presenting various topics over a three day period. I came away with one overall message. You must focus your webpages in order to attract, and keep, visitors.
What do I mean by that? People on the internet search for very specific information. If someone pulls up your web site in a search and doesn't immediately see what he or she is looking for, that visitor moves on to the next site on the list. A great example was given during the conference. Suppose I want to buy a red silk tie. I do a search on the phrase "red silk tie." I click on one of the links in the search result and am taken to an index page for men's clothing. I don't have the patience to take the trouble to navigate that site to find a red silk tie. I am going to click another link in the list. Say the next link I click takes me directly to a catalog page for a red silk tie. BINGO! One more click takes me to the order form and I've completed my task.
The same principle applies to an informational web site. If someone doesn't see what they want right away, he isn't going to stick around and explore the site.
Here is where content articles come in handy. Using content articles, rich in keywords and phrases relevant to your web site, will attract visitors interested in what you have to say. Interested visitors become repeat visitors. They recommend your site to like-minded people. Those people visit your site, become repeat visitors, recommend your site to others .... You get the picture. You gain a following. Traffic to your web site will grow exponentially.
What is the use of having a web site if no one sees it? Use content articles on your web site to attract visitors and leave them begging for more from you.
